January 10, 2012 was the worst day of my life.

I had two messages on my phone from a police officer, my wife had one, when I finally called him, he told me that my mom collapsed at work.

I immediately asked him where she was so I could get to her…

“I am sorry to tell you that she didn’t make it,” he said.

I immediately collapsed, crying and in complete shock.

My wife got the details about the hospital I would have to go to identify my mother’s body.

I will never forget entering that hospital room and seeing her lifeless body on the table.

I will never forget holding her and crying and asking her to wake up.

At 35 I cried more than I have cried since I was a little boy.

My mother died of a heart attack at age 63.

9 days before my second child was born.

I later learned that she had diabetes and high blood pressure, all manageable diseases.

Women, your physical health is important.  Heart disease doesn’t just affect your heart, but the hearts of all of those who love and cherish you!
